Motorbike, Marine & Recreation Assets Auction
A broad mix of motorbike, marine, and caravan gear is going under the auctioneer’s gavel with Lloyds Auctions, running out of multiple locations across Australia. Standout lots include a 2014 Yamaha FX SVHOCruiser jet ski on a Dunbier trailer, a 2026 Harbour Caravan T19.6 off-road model, and a 2004 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 311 CDI semi-camper conversion.
-
National Online Motorcycles
Four bikes are on the block in Pickles’ national online motorcycle auction, spread across various locations and closing 19 August. The lineup includes a 2017 PBSR, a 2004 Suzuki GSX750F, and two 2022 Yamaha FJR1300s, so there’s a solid mix of sports tourers and commuter options.

The Classic & Vintage Motorcycle Auction Including Rare Spares
Classic and vintage motorcycles are now being consigned for a major auction event in Melbourne with Donington Auctions. The list so far includes European marques, muscle-era bikes, and collectable two-wheelers from top manufacturers.
FAQ
What types of motorcycles come up at auction?
Everything from commuter scooters and trail bikes to high-end road bikes and vintage collectables. For the most part they are insurance write-offs, fleet bikes (like Australia Post), repossessions, and deceased estate sales.
Are motorcycles sold with roadworthy certificates?
Generally no. Most bikes are sold as-is. Budget for a roadworthy inspection before riding, and repairs. Bikes from insurance or salvage sales will likely need major repairs (if in fact they can be re-registered).
Can I inspect a bike before bidding online?
Usually, Yes (except for Pickles). Inspection periods are listed on each auctioneer’s site. A pre-purchase inspection from a qualified mechanic is worth the cost on any bike over a few hundred dollars.
What is a PPSR check and do I need one?
A Personal Property Securities Register check confirms the bike isn’t stolen, written off, or under finance. At $2, it’s essential for every purchase. See our article on buying motorbikes from auction for more tips.
Trends & Insights
The mid August calendar is stacked with options for buyers chasing metal on two wheels. The most significant event this week is Oily Rag Rare Parts & Bikes Winter Auction, running 15 to 16 August, with over 1,000 lots of vintage and classic motorcycles and parts going under the hammer live via HiBid (Oily Rag Auctions, Aug 12). Motorcycles start from lot 600 on Sunday, and pre bidding is already open, with a 1927 500cc AJS project listed as a standout entry for restorers. This is a deep catalogue, so serious bidders should be scoping the parts sections early rather than waiting for the weekend.
At the commercial end, Pickles is launching a National Motorcycle Auction on Monday 17 August at 9am AEST, running through to 19 August, with bikes sourced from multiple locations across the country as part of its regular national vehicle sales (Pickles Auctions, Aug 16). That is a quick turnaround for a national offering, so expect competitive bidding on late model and fleet trade ins. Meanwhile, GTS Auctions has its August Motorcycle Auction closing this week, with a wide range of bikes on offer and an Australia wide service still being promoted (GTS Auctions, Aug 10). And Burns & Co wrapped its Next Level Collectors Auction on 10 to 11 August, which mixed classic and collectable motorcycles in with cars (Burns & Co Auctions, Aug 10).
Underpinning this activity is a healthy market. The FCAI reported motorcycle sales up 8.2 per cent in the first half of 2026, with 46,023 units sold against the prior year, a clear signal that sustained demand is feeding into auction consignments (FCAI, Jul 9). That growth is supporting both the classic sector and the volume of late model stock moving through national auctions. The next seven days favour buyers who can pivot between a rare parts catalogue and a fast closing online event, so keep your bidding limits set and your eyes on the lot lists.

Rod’s Tips
Grays and Pickles run the most consistent motorcycle volumes. Grays inlcudes a lot of privat sellers while Pickles features rolling online sales that include ex police bikes but mostly insurance sales and sometimes repossessions. Insurance stolen and recovered and write-offs, which if nothing else, are a reliable source for project bikes and parts machines.
Insurance write-offs can be genuine value, if, the damage is purely cosmetic. A bike written off for a cracked fairing and bent lever is very different from one with frame or engine damage, amd sometiomes the prior hides the latter. Inspect the listing photos carefully and ask the auctioneer for a full condition report.
Vintage and collectable bikes attract specialist buyers. If you’re chasing a Japanese classic or a vintage British bike, monitor the collectables auctions at Donington as well as the mainstream vehicle houses.

Apollo Thunder 125 Petrol
More detail
This lot is a standalone Apollo Thunder 125, a Chinese-made mini road bike that’s popular with learners and anyone chasing a cheap commuter hack. It runs on petrol and comes as a single unit, so there’s no bulk-buy discount here, but that also means less competition from dealers.
The Thunder 125 is a no-frills machine: air-cooled engine, manual gearbox, and basic suspension. It’s not a powerhouse, but it’s light and easy to manage, which suits first-timers or someone wanting a low-stakes weekend toy. Grays has it listed in the motorcycles and vehicles categories, so expect the usual auction terms, including buyer’s premium and inspection times.
If you’re handy with a spanner, this could be a solid pickup, but don’t assume it’s road-ready. Check the photos, read the condition notes, and factor in any registration or compliance costs if you plan to ride it on the street. Bidding closes on 18 August 2026, so you’ve got time to do your homework.
-
Yamaha DT125 Petrol
More detail
This lot is a standalone Yamaha DT125, not part of a mixed machinery package, so you’re bidding on one machine only. The DT125 is a classic lightweight enduro, known for being tough and simple to work on. If the bike is in original condition, it could be a solid buy for someone chasing a reliable farm hack or a resto job with plenty of aftermarket parts available.
Check the photos carefully for rust, chain wear, and tyre condition before bidding. These bikes are common, but clean examples hold value, and a rough one can still be worth a punt if the engine turns over. Grays Online runs this as a timed auction, so you’ll need to monitor the countdown and place your best bid before the close on 18 August 2026. Pickup will be from Jandakot, so factor in transport if you’re not local.
-
1988 Yamaha SR400 Petrol
More detail
This SR400 is a proper old-school ride, the kind of bike that’s been a cult favourite for decades. The 399cc single is known for its kick-start charm and bulletproof reliability, and this example appears to be a straight petrol model with no fancy electronics to worry about.
For buyers, it’s a chance to pick up a slice of 1980s Japanese motorcycling that’s still practical today. The SR400’s simple layout makes it an easy project for a home mechanic, or a solid commuter if it’s in good nick. Check the photos for rust and paint condition, and don’t assume it’s been looked after just because it’s old.
Grays is running this as an individual lot, so it’s a straightforward transaction. If you’re in the Perth area, it’s worth a physical inspection before bidding. If not, factor in freight costs. Bidding closes on 18 August 2026, so there’s time to do your homework.
-
2013 Harley Davidson FXDF103 Motorcycle
More detail
This is a straight-up individual bike lot, not a bulk clearance, so you’re dealing with one machine rather than a yard full of unknowns. The FXDF103 is the Fat Bob model, known for its beefy stance, twin headlights, and that torquey air-cooled 103ci engine. It’s a solid pick if you want a late-model cruiser with real road presence, and Grays has it listed as a standalone item, which means the paperwork and transfer should be simpler than a multi-lot purchase.
Condition and history aren’t spelled out in the listing, so factor in a pre-bid inspection if you can get to Jandakot, or at least phone ahead to ask about service records and any damage. The close date is set for mid-August 2026, which gives you time to watch the bidding pattern. Given it’s a single lot, the final price will come down to how many other riders are chasing the same bike, so set your own limit and stick to it. If you’re after a modern Harley with classic bones, this one’s worth a serious look.
-
2016 HONDA CRF450R Petrol
More detail
This CRF450R is a dedicated motocross machine, built for riders who want a no-frills, high-performance dirt bike. The 2016 model year benefits from Honda’s revised chassis and engine tuning, which sharpened handling and low-to-mid range power delivery. If you’re after a competitive bike for club racing or serious weekend rides, this is the sort of lot that rewards a proper pre-bid inspection.
It’s a single-lot listing, so don’t expect a yard full of spares or extras. What you get is the bike itself, and given it’s a 2016, check the usual wear points: chain and sprockets, fork seals, and the air filter. Grays runs this as a rolling auction, so the close time can extend if late bids come in. Set your limit, factor in the buyer’s premium, and be ready to move when the timer gets tight.
-
2010 Kawasaki KX250F Petrol
More detail
This Kawasaki KX250F is a solid pick if you’re chasing a proven motocross platform without paying new-bike money. The 2010 model year still holds up well, with a strong mid-range hit and sharp handling from the aluminium frame. It’s a single-lot listing, so you’re bidding on this bike alone, not wading through a whole yard of gear.
Check the photos for overall condition, and factor in the usual used-bike costs: chain, sprockets, and a fresh piston if it’s been hammered. Grays runs this as a timed sale, so get your bid in before the close date of 18 August 2026. If you’re after a competitive four-stroke with parts availability that’s still strong, this KX is worth a look.
-
2010 BMW R1200R Petrol
More detail
This is a straightforward individual bike lot, not a bulk clearance, so it suits a private buyer chasing a proven Euro roadster without the showroom price. The R1200R is known for its torquey flat-twin, upright ergonomics, and decent luggage options, making it a practical pick for longer hauls or daily duties.
Given it’s a 2010 model, check the service history and ask about any recent work, particularly on the final drive and fuel system, which are common watchpoints on this generation. Grays runs this as a timed auction, so bid with a clear ceiling and factor in the buyer’s premium. If the photos show clean paint and no crash damage, it’s worth a serious look before the close date.

Motorbike, Marine & Recreation Assets Auction
More detail
This one’s got a bit of everything for the weekend warrior. The marine section leads with an Aurora 650 inflatable RIB paired with a Yamaha F25 outboard, plus a couple of older tinny options like the 2005 Waterways runabout with a Johnson motor and a 1990 G CRAFT fibreglass runabout with an inboard. If personal watercraft are more your speed, there’s a 2003 Sea-Doo XP DI in red that’ll need a look over, but it’s the Yamaha jet ski that’ll likely draw the most attention.
Caravanners are well covered too. The 2026 Harbour Caravan T19.6 is brand-new stock, while the 2024 Kokoda dual-axle offers a more modern fit-out. For something with a bit of history, the 1988 Coronet and 2010 Telwater Desert Edge are both up for grabs, and the 2004 Sprinter van could be a solid base for a camper build or a workhorse tow rig.
Don’t overlook the trailers. There’s a Dodge RAM single-axle enclosed utility and a 2016 SRE 10×5 enclosed cargo trailer with a jockey wheel, both handy for shifting gear or storing toys. Bidding closes 19 August, so check the lot list on the Lloyds site for condition reports and any registration details before you commit

The Classic & Vintage Motorcycle Auction Including Rare Spares
More detail
Donington Auctions is building a dedicated catalogue of classic and vintage motorcycles for this August sale. The focus is on quality over quantity, with consignments expected to cover pre-war rarities, 1970s Japanese icons, and British singles and twins. Any bike that fits the collector or performance bracket is being considered.
If you have a restoration project, a barn find, or a fully sorted classic, now is the time to get it in the door. The auction house has a strong track record with European marques and muscle cars, so they know how to present a motorcycle to the right buyers. Consignment terms and valuation appointments are available through their Melbourne office. Serious sellers should contact them well before the August 10 close date to secure a spot in the lineup.
-

2018 Kymco Agility Motor Cycle Petrol
More detail
This Kymco Agility is a solid option if you’re after a lightweight, fuel-efficient runabout for commuting or short trips. The 2018 model is late enough to have modern touches, but it’s still a simple, air-cooled four-stroke that’s cheap to service and insure. Given it’s listed as a petrol motorcycle, expect the standard 125cc or similar capacity engine, which is plenty for city work.
The lot comes from Grays Online’s ongoing vehicle disposal program, so it’s a straightforward auction with no dealer pressure. Check the photos for cosmetic wear, and factor in a service and a fresh battery if it’s been sitting. As with any Grays vehicle lot, you’re buying based on the listing, so arrange an inspection if the details are thin. The location is Dandenong South, so collection logistics are easy if you’re in Melbourne’s southeast.
