FAQ
Where does IT auction stock come from?
The bulk comes from corporate refresh cycles with businesses replacing ageing hardware and disposing of the old equipment through auction. Government fleet upgrades, school system upgrades, and insolvency sales are also major sources.
Is secondhand IT equipment worth buying at auction?
Often yes, particularly for servers, networking gear, and commercial-grade monitors. Corporate equipment is typically heavier-built than consumer equivalents and has usually been lightly used in an office environment.
What should I check before bidding on IT lots?
Age, condition, whether it has been wiped and re-imaged, and whether warranties apply. Most lots are sold as-is with no software or licences included. Check the lot description carefully for what’s excluded.
Can I inspect IT lots before the sale?
Inspection periods vary. Some houses allow hands-on testing; others only permit visual inspection. Ask the auctioneer what’s permitted before bidding blind.
Trends & Insights
Ross’s Auctioneers launched a Welshpool IT auction this week featuring Surface Pro tablets and Dell laptops, with the online sale opening on June 19 and closing on June 29. Lots include HP ProBook 450 G9 laptops currently bidding at $106, Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+ tablets at $105 to $115, and Philips monitors at $26 to $28, all subject to a 16.5% buyer’s premium (auctions.com.au, Jun 19). This event signals continued market appetite for business-grade mobile hardware from liquidation streams.
AllBids brought its weekly Computers & IT auction live around June 19, closing on Tuesday June 23, with a lineup sourced from police and government channels. The sale features laptops, desktops, tablets, and Apple products, maintaining a regular weekly cadence that buyers have come to rely on for consistent supply (AllBids, Jun 19). Meanwhile, HiBid Australia is running computers and electronics auctions from June 8 to 21, closing on June 23, with 30 Intel Core i5/i7 PCs, mini notebooks, printers, network servers, and data storage units drawing steady interest (HiBid, Jun 17). The mix of processing power and storage gear reflects a market prioritising infrastructure refresh cycles.
Pickles Auctions is closing multiple general goods and IT sales nationwide on June 21 to 22, including unidentified and damaged freight clearance lots alongside other IT equipment from various locations (Pickles Auctions, Jun 19). The diversity of sources, from police seizures to freight overruns, underscores how secondary IT supply channels remain fragmented but rich with opportunity for savvy bidders. Watch for end-of-financial-year clearance volumes to ramp up, particularly in server and networking categories, as corporate sellers push surplus out the door before July.

Rod’s Tips
Grays runs the highest volume of corporate IT disposals in Australia. Their rolling online sales include everything from single laptops to full server racks.
Bulk server lots can be exceptional value for homelabbers and small businesses. A rack of Dell or HP servers sold as one line item will often include drives, rails, and cabling but do check the photos and description carefully before bidding.
Check the generation before bidding on servers. A lot described as “servers x 5” could be Xeon E5 v4 or Pentium-era hardware. Model numbers matter enormously for value and usability.
Data security is your responsibility. Even wiped drives should be fully re-formatted before reuse. Assume any lot you buy has not been properly sanitised until you’ve verified it yourself.

This is a pure collector’s grab bag. Twelve individual amiibo figures, all from the Nintendo lineup, covering both the Super Mario Bros. and Animal Crossing franchises. No bundles or mystery boxes here. Each figure is listed as a separate lot, so you can cherry-pick the ones you need to fill gaps in your collection.
The Animal Crossing side is strong. You get Cyrus, Digby, K.K. (Kéké Totakéké), Mabel (two of them), and Reese. That’s a solid run of the more sought-after villagers. On the Mario side, Donkey Kong is the standout. The Yoshi figure (No. 3 from the Super series) is also worth a look for platformer fans.
Buyers should check the condition notes on each lot. Amiibo figures are often displayed or lightly played with, so look for any scuffs or loose packaging. Lloyds runs this as a timed online auction, closing on 21 June 2026. Bid per figure, not as a set. If you’re after a specific character, this is a clean way to grab it without buying a job lot of junk.
