FAQ
What does Pickles specialise in?
Pickles is best known for commercial vehicle auctions including cars, trucks, fleet, and salvage, but, to a lesser degree, also plant and equipment, industrial surplus, and general goods. They operate nationally with major facilities in every state.
How do I register to bid at Pickles?
Register online at pickles.com.au. You’ll need ID verification and, for some categories, a refundable deposit. Registration is free and covers all their online and in-room sales.
What buyer’s premium does Pickles charge?
Typically 10–15% plus GST for vehicles, 15% for general goods. The exact rate is disclosed on each lot page, some lot types may incur an additional fee (eg. EVs), so, always check before bidding.
Does Pickles offer transport for purchased vehicles?
Yes. Pickles has a freight coordination service. Alternatively, you can arrange your own transport, which may be cheaper, and most vehicle transport companies are familiar with collecting from Pickles facilities.
Trends & Insights
The major event on the calendar is the $15M Major Earthmoving Auction closing live on September 7, with a substantial Caterpillar fleet from contractor stock sold insitu across Eagle Farm, Rockhampton, and Bibra Lake. The line-up of D6T to D10T dozers, 14M and 16M graders, and 740B dump trucks represents a rare depth of late-model plant hitting the market simultaneously, a clear signal that Tier 1 contractors are rationalizing fleets while resale values remain firm (Pickles Auctions, Sep 7).
For those not chasing the high-end dozer work, the National Online Salvage Construction, Earthmoving & Agricultural Equipment auction also closes September 7, offering over 20 lots including a 2018 Class Lexion 760 harvester and a 2023 Kubota SVL75-2. The mix of agricultural and construction salvage from national locations continues to draw a different buyer profile, one hunting for utility assets at cyclical lows (Auction Finder, Sep 7). In the transport sector, the Sydney Bulk Haulage Auction of PBS Scheme-maintained Kenworth and Mack trucks highlights the ongoing premium placed on compliant, contract-ready gear, with the fleet selling due to operator upgrades (Pickles Auctions, Sep 7).
The corporate narrative is just as active as the auction calendar. The sale process for Pickles itself is advancing, with EQT and Warburg Pincus entering due diligence on a deal valued above $1.5 billion, while Ritchie Bros has been excluded over competition concerns (Australian Financial Review, Sep 4). This backdrop of private equity interest aligns with the operational data showing FY26 truck sales hitting $301 million, underscoring the strength of the asset class as fleets cycle their gear (Pickles Auctions LinkedIn, Sep 6).
With government, fleet, and ex-military sales running through September 9, buyers should watch for late bidding pressure on well-documented, single-owner assets as the week closes.

Rod’s Tips
Pickles’ insurance write-off sales are held on a regular cycle. Their insurance partner program produces consistent supply of salvage vehicles. If you’re in the market for repairable write-offs, check their salvage category weekly.
Fleet vehicle lots from Pickles are generally well-documented. Corporate and rental fleet disposals typically include service history and odometer verification. These are among the lower-risk purchases available through auction.
Use their “watch” feature to track lots before the auction opens. Pickles allows you to save lots you’re interested in. This also lets you set maximum bids in advance rather than trying to monitor a live clock.
No Inspections. Pickles facilities, sadly, do not offer in-person inspections, leaving you to rely on photos and their condition report.

National Salvage Construction, Earthmoving & Agricultural Equipment
More detail
This is a proper mixed bag, with heavy hitters sitting alongside everyday workhorses. The Lexion 760 is the headline act for broadacre croppers, while the New Holland CR960 and 2022 Case IH 2152 give you backup in the harvest department. On the earthmoving side, the Komatsu HM300-2 and Caterpillar 924H wheel loader are solid buys if you need production capacity without paying new prices.
For the smaller operators, the Caterpillar 301.8 mini excavator and ASV RT-60 compact track loader are handy additions, and the John Deere 6330 is a reliable all-rounder for mixed farming. The 2010 Sullair compressor and 2013 Sandvik DP1500i suggest there’s drilling and site work covered too. Given the national spread, factor in freight costs before you bid, and check the salvage status on each unit carefully, as condition will vary significantly across the lots. Pickles has listed over a dozen items, so expect more to be added as the close date approaches.

National Online Heavy Motor Salvage
More detail
This is a scattered national clearance, so factor in freight costs before you bid. The headline lot is the 2021 Sloane Built tri-axle tipper, a near-new piece of gear that would normally sit at a premium. The 2019 Kenworth T610 and the 2002 T401 give the heavy-haul crowd two solid options at different ends of the age and price spectrum.
For the lighter end, there’s a 2012 Mitsubishi Fuso Rosa BE600 bus, a 2006 Kia K2700, and a 1998 Hino FD2J. The Volvo pair, a 1999 FH12 460 and a 2005 FM 12, are the sort of workhorses that keep going if they’ve been looked after. Salvage titles mean you need to check the damage reports and registration status carefully. Pickles runs these national salvage sales regularly, so bidding is online only and lots close from 14 September.

QLD, SA/ NT & WA Trucks & Transport (Online)
More detail
The heavy hitters here are the prime movers. That 2022 Mack Titan CLXT is about as current as they come in this sector, and it’ll likely draw the serious interstate operators. The 2016 Volvo FE300 is a solid city or regional workhorse, while the 1986 Mitsubishi FM515 is a genuine classic, possibly more appealing to collectors or parts buyers than daily drivers. On the trailer side, you’ve got a 2021 Stonestar Semi BD-RT and a 2016 Swinglift ST3, both useful for tipper or crane work depending on your setup.
Don’t overlook the smaller stuff. The 2009 Hino 500 and the 2011 Toyota Coaster are practical buys for fleet operators or tradies needing a reliable secondary vehicle. The Vawdrey VB S3 units, from 2012 and 2008, are common on Australian roads, meaning parts and servicing won’t be an issue.
Pickles runs these national transport auctions regularly, so the condition reports and photos should be detailed. Given the spread across three states, factor in transport costs or inspect the gear closest to you before bidding. The 2021 Maxitrans ST3 and the 2020 Fuso are the newer options if you want something with less wear, but the older gear could be the value picks if

VIC/TAS Council-Government General Goods, IT, Workshop & Light Industrial Equipment Sale
More detail
The usual council and government turnover has thrown up a useful spread of workshop and light industrial gear here, and the 12-plus lots are worth a scroll if you need practical kit without paying retail. The Pelican RALS units (both the 9430 and 9490) are the headline acts, proper remote area lighting that cops a hiding on site and keeps working. Pair that with the WAKU TL14 4.2m telescopic ladder and you’ve got the bones of a solid service setup.
Power and hydraulics are covered too. The Yamaha EF2000IS inverter is a reliable little generator that holds its value, while the PT Hydraulics 2” RAM and the Holmatro HR 5420 O hydraulic hose reel, along with the Halmatro pump, will suit anyone doing mobile plant maintenance. The Milwaukee Sawzul Fuel brushless with two lithium batteries is a decent score if the condition checks out, and the Multiflex retractable coil hose is the kind of thing you don’t think about until you need it.
It’s a national listing, so factor in freight or pickup logistics from the various VIC and TAS locations before you bid. The security safe and the DHS stretcher are the oddballs in the lineup, but they’ll find a home. As always with pickles, inspect what you can and bid to your limit, because the good lots will draw attention closer to the close date on September 22.
-

VIC/TAS Council-Government Ground Care & Trailer Sale
More detail
This one is a solid spread of council-maintenance staples, and the Stihl lineup is the headline. You’ve got two MS 231 chainsaws, a bigger MS 500i, and a pair of pole pruners in the HTA 86 and HT 103, so there’s something for clearing jobs from the ground up. The FS 360 C trimmer is a serious bit of kit for roadside or paddock work, while the BG 86 blowers are handy for quick cleanups.
The Walker MD21D-11 is worth a look if you’re after a commercial-grade mower, and the Wacker Neuson plate compactor with the Honda GX160 is a reliable unit for site prep or paving jobs. With 12+ lots spread across VIC and TAS, you’ll need to check the location on each item before bidding, as pickup points vary. Council gear tends to be serviced on schedule, so condition is usually decent, but factor in travel if you’re chasing something outside your area.

Thurgoona Online Ex-Military Trailers
More detail
The Haulmark units are the backbone here, and they’re proper military-spec gear. The 2004 PT1-1.2 is the newest of the bunch, while the three 2DTs (two from 1994, one from 1989) and the 1996 4DT offer solid variety for anyone needing heavy-duty towing capacity. The 4DT is the bigger rig, so if you need space, that’s your pick.
The two 1995 Aust Caravans trailers are the outliers, and they could be a smart grab if you’re after something lighter or more versatile than the Haulmark tippers. Ex-military stock usually means robust construction and minimal frills, so expect functional condition rather than showroom polish.
Pickles has these listed for online bidding only, with the close date set for 9 September 2026. Inspection would be wise before you commit, given the age range and military history, but for anyone after a tough, no-nonsense trailer, this is a decent spread to work through.

NSW State Govt. & Council Surplus Machinery, Equipment & Various Goods
More detail
The Stihl lot is the pick of the bunch for anyone maintaining large blocks or working in horticulture. You’ve got an HLA 65 battery-powered hedge trimmer, a BG 86C petrol blower, an FS 131 brushcutter, and a BT 131 auger. That’s a solid four-piece kit for clearing, planting, and tidying up, and government surplus usually means they’ve been serviced on a schedule, not run into the ground.
Beyond the garden gear, there’s some practical stuff for the workshop and site. The 400mm and 250mm digging buckets will suit mini excavator operators looking for spares, and the EMFLUX electromagnetic flowmeter is a niche find for anyone in irrigation or water testing. For the office or retail fit-out, there are two angled display stands with rear cupboard storage, plus a timber three-door display cupboard and a TV stand.
Pickles is running this one from Milperra, so it’s a Sydney pickup. With 12 lots listed and no reserve dramas typical of government auctions, the smart play is to sort out which Stihl unit you actually need and bid accordingly. The council gear tends to move cheap, but the good stuff gets attention late, so have your max number in mind before the timer runs down.

Sydney Linehaul Fleet Sale
More detail
The trucks are the main draw here, with low-hours late-model European iron that usually doesn’t hit the auction circuit. The 2024 MAN TGX 26.540 is the standout, but the 2023 Actros 2653 and the 2018 Actros 2658 offer solid alternatives if you want Mercedes running gear. The 2022 DAF CF450 FTT is a good mid-range option, while the older 2021 Actros 2646 still has plenty of life left for the right money.
On the trailer side, Pickles has bundled in a solid spread of tri-axle and B-double units. The Vawdrey VB S3s from 1999, 2006, and 2007 are proven workhorses, and there’s a pair of Maxitrans ST3s from 2001 and 2003. A 1996 Krueger ST-3-35 adds a bit of vintage appeal, while the 2003 Barker is worth a look if you need a specialist unit.
Located at Spring Farm in Sydney’s southwest, this is a genuine fleet disposal, not a dealer trade-in. Check the service histories on the MAN and the 2023 Actros before bidding, as those are the ones likely to draw the big money. The older trailers could be a bargain if you’re after a project or spare gear, but factor in any compliance work they might need.

NSW Earthmoving & Compaction Fleet Rotation
More detail
This is a genuine fleet rotation, not a fire sale of worn-out gear. The star of the show is the 2024 Morooka MST-700VD, a machine that barely has time on the clock and holds its value hard. The 2023 MST80C is the smaller sibling and just as sought after. If you need a compaction fleet, there are five Liugong CLG6615E rollers listed, with the 2022 and 2023 models offering the latest emission specs and operator comfort.
On the excavator side, the 2018 Takeuchi TB280FR is a proper 8-tonne class machine, while the 2016 Kubota KX080-3S and Yanmar VIO80-1 are proven workhorses for tight sites. The 2022 Wacker Neuson EZ17 is a zero-tail-swing mini that’s ideal for utility work. With 12+ lots spread across various NSW and VIC locations, check the listing carefully for where each machine sits. Pickles runs a tight inspection window, so get your pre-buy checks organised before close on 24 September.
-

National Online Heavy Earthmoving, Plant & Equipment
More detail
This is a tight, high-value lineup for anyone moving bulk material or running a mine site, quarry, or large-scale civil job. The Cat D11 coal blade is the headline, a serious piece of gear for dozer push work or stockpile management, and it’s listed alongside a second coal blade to suit a D11 dozer, so you’ve got options depending on your setup.
The 2004 988G is a proven 10-cubic-yard-class loader, still a workhorse on Australian sites, while the 2009 16M VHP brings variable horsepower and a 4.8-metre blade, ideal for grading haul roads or finishing pads. The 2001 IT38G rounds out the package with quick-coupler versatility, handy for swapping buckets, forks, or attachments on the fly.
Pickles is running this one fully online, so you’re bidding against the whole country, not just the Hunter. Check the inspection times on each lot, factor in freight from the various locations, and have your finance sorted before the close date. Five lots, no filler, all Caterpillar gear with real residual value.

Workcontrol Fleet Realignment Sale
Pickles Workcontrol Fleet Realignment Sale in Dubbo.
-

National Aviation & Drone Sale
More detail
This one is squarely aimed at ground handlers, charter operators, and anyone maintaining their own airfield. The Timsan TB A320 towbar is the headline piece, built for moving A320-family aircraft, and it’s a specialised item that doesn’t show up in general plant auctions often.
The six Haycomp Eagle 2A passenger lifters are the bulk of the lots. These are self-propelled units used to get passengers and crew up to aircraft doors, and they’re the kind of gear that keeps regional and FIFO operations moving. With six of them listed, there’s a chance to pick up multiple units for a fleet, or grab a spare if you’ve already got one in service.
Bidding closes on 24 September 2026. The sale is spread across various national locations, so factor in transport and inspection logistics before you commit. If you’re after aviation-specific ground support, this is a narrow field and worth a proper look.

Lawson Logistics Bulk Handling Sale
Pickles Lawson Logistics Bulk Handling Sale in Wagga Wagga.

Horticultural Clearance Sale
More detail
This clearance covers the lot for anyone setting up or topping up a horticultural operation. The tractors span eras and sizes, from the classic 1970 MF 135 to the newer New Holland TN80FA, so there’s something for light orchard work or heavier paddock duties. The Iseki and Homebuilt units are worth a look if you need a secondary machine or a project.
On the implement side, the Bonel B18 spreader and the Interlink sprayer are practical buys for fertiliser and crop protection work. The Silvan poly spray tank and the skid-mounted poly tank are handy for water or chemical transfer, and the HESCO citrus bins suggest this sale is pulling from a working grove. Bidding closes 24 September, and with lots spread across various locations, check the listing details for pickup arrangements before you commit.

Heavy Earthmoving equipment available for sale
More detail
This is not backyard digger stuff. We’re talking production-scale mining machinery, the kind of gear that moves mountains in a single pass. The two Terex O&K RH170 units are serious face shovels, while the Hitachi EX2500-6 is a proven workhorse for loading trucks in hard rock conditions.
The Komatsu WA1200-3 is one of the biggest wheel loaders ever built, and the Caterpillar 6050 is a hydraulic excavator designed for high-volume overburden removal. Buyers should factor in transport and inspection costs before bidding, as these units are located across various national sites. Given the age of the fleet, service history and component wear will be the key to working out a realistic bid.

Oil & Gas Diesel Generator Sale
More detail
The headline act is the pair of 2011 Volvo Penta TAD1641GE sets, each rated at 500kW/550kVA and pushing 565kW at 1800 RPM. They come enclosed and were supplied by MTU Detroit Diesel Australia, so these are serious bits of kit for a mine site, workshop, or commercial build.
If you need something smaller, there’s a skid-mounted Nugen S60PS with a silenced canopy, plus a 2015 Scania SG400 that offers 320kW of standby power in a CPG sound-attenuated mobile station. For light duties, the Kubota GL6000-AU-B has 2277 hours on the clock and is a straightforward portable unit.
The Kohler KD110s are 3-phase, 415V sets with Leroy-Somer alternators and acoustic canopies, and there’s a WASP DCA-100ESI with 2010 compliance. One of the Kohlers has an extended runtime base fuel tank, which is worth factoring in if you’re planning long hauls. Surplus & Scrap Electrical Cabling Sale
More detail
This sale is a proper rummage through an industrial electrical storeroom. The standout is the Daewon 2021 partial spool: 1350m of 3-core x 35mm² plus 10mm² earth, steel wire armoured, made to AS/NZS 5000.1. That’s a serious length of合规 cable for a job that needs proper spec, not cheap import gear.
If you’re after scrap value, there are four bulk IBC lots of mixed flexible multicore and single-core earth wires, plus a crate of power cable offcuts that look to be 4C x 95mm² with a 25mm² earth. Those offcuts alone could be a decent payday at the recyclers, but check the copper recovery rate before you bid silly.
The fibre optic side is worth a look too. There’s a 24-core AFL single-mode spool made in Australia, plus a lot of six industrial marine instrumentation and single-mode fibre spools. For anyone rewiring a site or running new data lines, buying partial spools here beats paying retail per metre. Pickles has the sale closing on 18 September at Bibra Lake, so get down there to inspect the lots before the close.

Unreserved Workshop Clearance Sale
More detail
This is a straight workshop clean-out in Altona North, so the gear is being offered as-is, where-is, with no reserve to hide behind. The milling machine is the big-ticket item for anyone with a shed or a small fab shop; the HM52G is a solid unit for keyways, slotting, and general metalwork. There’s also an IRWIN RECORD No.3 vice and a metal workbench, which are the sort of things that get snapped up quickly when they’re priced to move.
Beyond the heavy stuff, there’s a mix of diagnostic and maintenance gear. The TA500 SmartTach+COP analyser appears twice, so there’s redundancy there if you need a backup or want to run two vehicles at once. An ULTIMATE U-16 vacuum pump, a Bailey fibreglass extendable ladder, and an APEX toolbox round out the practical bits. Two stillages are also listed, handy if you need racking for pallets or bulky stock.
The sale closes on 11 September, and with only 12-plus lots, it’s a manageable one to work through. Given it’s unreserved, the milling machine is the one to watch. Inspect beforehand if you can, and factor in pickup from Altona North. No online-only surprises here, just a straightforward clearance of working gear.
-

Orbost Civil & Civic Earthmoving, Attachments & General Goods
More detail
This sale pulls together a practical spread of civil and civic gear, heavy on attachments that often get overlooked but cost a fortune new. The earthmoving side looks like the main draw, with buckets and rippers that could bolt straight onto common excavator models, plus general goods that round out a working site.
For buyers, the mix suggests a cleared yard or depot, which usually means negotiable condition and realistic starting prices. If you need spare steel for a job coming up, this is worth a look before the 17 September close. Check the photos carefully for wear on cutting edges and mounting points, and factor in freight from Melbourne if you’re not local.

Major Agricultural Receivership Auction
More detail
This one has the feel of a cleared-out farm shed, and the variety reflects a working operation shutting down. The Kenworth K100G is the headline truck, a classic cab-over that still has serious pulling power for moving plant and stock. For livestock work, there are four Advantage Feeders units, including three 1800HD grain feeders and an 800HD, plus a cradle hay feeder, so if you run cattle or sheep, this is a chance to grab feeding gear in one hit.
Spraying and spreading are covered too. The 2017 Goldacres Batchmate 800 is a proper broadacre spray unit, while the Roesner Marshall Multispread 810T handles fertiliser or lime spreading. Two tractor buckets, one from Kerfab in 2023 and an older unit, round out the attachments. The auction closes on 22 September, and with 12 lots plus, it’s worth a look if you’re after anything from heavy haulage to day-to-day paddock kit. Pickles has the details up now, so get in before the close.

National Transport Logistics Rotation Sale
More detail
This is a fleet-rotation sale, meaning the Actros 2643 has likely been worked hard but maintained to a schedule. For buyers, that’s the appeal: a late-model European prime mover coming out of a logistics operation, not a one-off trade-in. The 2643 designation points to a 430 hp output, a solid sweet spot for linehaul and interstate work.
The single-lot format keeps things simple. No rummaging through mixed gear, just one truck to assess and bid on. Given the national scope of the vendor’s operation, the vehicle may have covered serious kms, so inspection and service history will be key. Pickles has the listing live now, with the close date set for late September 2026.
If you’re in the market for a late-model Actros, this is a direct shot at a fleet-maintained unit. Check the listing for photos and any available service records, and factor in a pre-auction inspection if the truck is accessible. Bidding closes on 29 September 2026.

Macadamia End of Development Sale
More detail
This is an end-of-development clearance for a macadamia operation, so the gear is practical and ready for the next block. The tractors are the headline acts: the Case IH Puma 180 is a solid all-rounder for row crop work, while the John Deere 8360RT is a serious tracked unit that doesn’t come up often in this part of the world. If you’re setting up or expanding horticulture, the 2022 Maschio G300 rotary tiller and the dual row fertiliser bins are worth a close look.
The utes are the pick for tradies or farm managers. Three Hilux SRs spanning 2016 to 2018, all in the one sale, means decent supply and competitive bidding. There’s also a hooded sprayer, a soybean planter, and a Ferguson single row bin to round out the package. The sale closes on 17 September, so get your inspections done early and have your bidding sorted before then.

QLD Western Council Auction – Vehicles
More detail
This is a single-vehicle listing, and it’s a good one. The 2022 Toyota Kluger GX is the base trim, but that’s no bad thing. You’re getting Toyota’s proven reliability, a spacious seven-seat cabin, and the sort of resale value that makes the Kluger a staple on Australian roads. The GX comes well-equipped from the factory, with Toyota’s safety suite, a decent infotainment setup, and all the practicality you’d expect from a mid-size SUV.
Being a council vehicle, it’s likely to have been serviced on a regular schedule, though it’s worth checking the condition report for any wear and tear from fleet duties. The auction is set to close on 23 September 2026, and with only one lot on offer, you won’t have to wade through pages of gear to find it. Do your homework on the service history and condition report before bidding, and you could pick up a solid family car for a sharp price.

EOI: Cleveland Pilot Vessel
More detail
The Cleveland is a purpose-built pilot vessel from a respected Australian builder, Norman Wright, and it’s offered as a single-lot EOI. That means the sale isn’t a straightforward timed auction, buyers need to lodge their best offer by the close date of 28 September 2026. For anyone who knows pilot boats, these are built for rough water, quick transfers, and heavy duty, so this isn’t a weekend toy.
Details beyond the hull are thin, but the Norman Wright name carries weight in commercial circles, and a vessel of this type will have serious running gear, decent accommodation, and the kind of sea-keeping you can’t get from a trailer boat. The location is listed as Island Plantation, near Townsville, so it’s worth factoring in transport costs if you’re not local.
If you’re chasing a commercial-grade vessel without paying new-build money, this one’s worth a close look. Get your inspection sorted early, because an EOI process means you need to put your best foot forward the first time.

NT Gov & other Vehicle Auction
More detail
This is a straight government disposal, so expect fleet-spec servicing and a paper trail most private sales can’t match. The pick of the bunch is the 2021 Hilux SR, a workhorse that holds its value hard, and the 2018 Landcruiser GXL is the one for anyone needing serious towing or off-road capability without paying new-car money.
The 2022 Outlander LS and ES are the sensible buys for families, while the 2017 Ranger XL and the 2019 Triton GLX cover the tradie end of things. There’s also a 2020 Toyota Hiace van if you need something with a big cargo box. The 2014 Holden Colorado 7 LT is the odd one out, but it’s a decent budget option for a seven-seat 4WD.
All lots are at the Winnellie yard on Hickman Street. Do your usual checks on service history and condition reports before bidding, and factor in the buyer’s premium. Twelve-plus lots means the auction won’t drag, so have your bids ready early in the day.
