FAQ
Where do most Australian truck auctions come from?
The bulk come from fleet disposals by transport companies, logistics operators, and government bodies cycling out aging vehicles. Pickles and Manheim handle the largest volumes.
What should I check before bidding on a truck?
Engine hours, service history, ADR compliance, and registration status. For prime movers and heavy vehicles, a pre-purchase mechanical inspection is strongly recommended. Most auction houses will facilitate access for inspections prior to the sale.
Are trucks sold with roadworthy certificates?
Not as a rule. Most commercial vehicles are sold as-is. Budget for a roadworthy inspection and any required repairs before putting a purchase back into service.
What are the buyer’s premium rates for trucks?
Typically 10–18% plus GST. Some houses have a capped premium on high-value lots and you must check the specific terms for each sale.
Can I finance a truck bought at auction?
Trends & Insights
The national auction calendar is peaking as end of financial year rationalisation drives heavy inventory onto the block. Ritchie Bros. launched its Australia National Unreserved Auction, a timed online event running June 23 through 25, with hundreds of lots already attracting bids in the tens and hundreds of thousands of AUD, including multiple Cat haul trucks, Volvo and Cat articulated dump trucks, and dozers located across VIC and QLD (Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers, Jun 21). Manheim is running its National Transport Auction which opened June 19 and closes June 23, alongside ongoing EOFY corporate fleet sales with over 100 lots of prime movers, light trucks, and trailers (Manheim Australia, Jun 19).
Pickles is also active with a Premium Truck & Trailer Fleet Event scheduled June 22 through 24, featuring Volvo and Mack units under instructions from IAS Fine Art Logistics, with expressions of interest closing June 24 (Pickles Auctions, Jun 17). Separately, Pickles is promoting ready-to-work skip trucks across Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne as part of ongoing commercial fleet rotation (Pickles Auctions, Jun 18). The volume across these three major platforms confirms a supply heavy market as operators clear stock before the new financial year.
Underpinning this auction activity, the broader market shows a measured correction. New truck deliveries totaled 9,132 units in Q1 2026, down 11 to 13 percent year on year, though carsales notes the quarter revealed more encouraging trends than headline figures suggest amid fleet optimisation (carsales.com.au, Jun 20). This aligns with the auction surge, as operators pivot from new purchases to offloading surplus equipment. Buyers should watch for late bidding action on the Ritchie Bros. and Manheim closings this week, where unreserved formats could drive value.

Rod’s Tips
Run a PPSR check on every truck you’re serious about. Commercial vehicles can carry significant encumbrances. A $2 PPSR check is the cheapest insurance you’ll buy.
End-of-lease fleet disposals are where consistency is. Transport companies sell on a schedule and condition varies less than private sales and most have some form of service documentation.
Factor in transport and compliance costs before bidding. A truck that needs a roadworthy, new tyres etc., and freight from Brisbane to Adelaide is a different proposition than its hammer price suggests.
Heavy vehicle auctions at Manheim and Pickles run to a timetable. Major fleet clearances are announced 2–3 weeks ahead. You should get in an get your vehcile research doen as early as possible.

Franna AT-20 Mobile Cranes, Grove GMK5130 Crane, Cateprillar 982M & 988K Loaders, Sumitomo SH330 Excavator, Komatsu Water Truck & Rail Shunters Online Offsite Clearance Auction
More detail
Ross’s is clearing a serious yard at 33 Gavranich Way in Wangara, and the gear is heavy. The Franna AT-20 is a popular pick for tight sites with its 20-tonne capacity and pick-and-carry ability. The Grove GMK5130 is a five-axle all-terrain crane with a 130-tonne lift, built for big reach and road travel.
On the loading side, the Caterpillar 982M is a mid-size wheel loader with a 5.5 cubic metre bucket, good for production work. The 988K is a larger beast with a 7.6 cubic metre bucket and a 580 horsepower engine, suited to quarry or stockpile duties. The Sumitomo SH330 excavator is a 33-tonne unit with a 1.5 cubic metre bucket, common on civil jobs. The Komatsu water truck is a support rig for dust suppression on site, and the rail shunters are specialist gear for moving rolling stock. This is a concentrated sale for anyone in civil, mining, or heavy haulage.

Emergency Fire Tender Trucks & Toyota Landcruiser Ambulances Online Welshpool Auction
More detail
This is a straight-up fleet clearance of ex-emergency gear, not some cleaned-up dealer stock. The two Isuzu Fire Tenders are kitted out with heavy-duty bodies, water tanks, and pumping gear. They are built for off-road fire response, not just bitumen running.
The Toyota Landcruiser ambulances are 70-Series single-cabs, the type used by WA emergency services. They come with purpose-built tray bodies and medical storage. These are tough, low-km vehicles that have been maintained on a strict government schedule.
Buyers should check the listing for service history and current registration status. These units are sold as-is, so a pre-buy inspection is smart. The auction closes on June 22, so get your bids in early in the week.
-

Buses, Mine Spec Buses & Support Trucks End of Financial Year Clearance Online Welshpool Auction
More detail
This end of financial year clearance focuses on heavy transport gear suited for mining sites, school runs, or fleet replacement. Standout items include the 2014 Toyota Coaster, a common choice for mine site crew transport, and the 2005 Hino RG230, offering a solid platform for conversion or continued service. Support trucks in the mix range from Isuzu and Nissan cab-chassis units, likely with tray or service bodies, ideal for site logistics.
Buyers should note the online format: bidding closes 22 June 2026, with pick-up from the Welshpool complex on Orrong Road. Ross’s runs these sales regularly, so expect a straightforward process. If you need a bus or support truck for mining or general use, this is a clean way to pick one up without dealer overheads. Check each listing for condition reports and registration status before bidding.
-

Surface Mining Equipment, Hitachi Excavators, Komatsu Lube Truck & LeTourneau Loader Expression of Interest
More detail
This expression of interest sale is built around heavy earthmoving plant, not weekend toys. The Hitachi excavators are the kind of gear that keeps iron ore pits moving, while the Komatsu lube truck is a dedicated support unit for servicing big rigs on site. The LeTourneau loader is a serious piece of iron, built for loading haul trucks in production environments.
Ross runs regular auctions from Perth covering WA Police forfeited goods, machinery, and business closures, so this sits squarely in their heavy equipment lane. Buyers should factor in Pilbara transport and site access. No street address is listed, meaning the gear is likely at a mine site or secure yard. Expression of interest means you submit an offer by the close date, 26 June 2026, rather than bidding live.
-

Caterpillar 789C Mining Trucks Expression of Interest
More detail
This is a straight expression of interest sale, not a timed online auction. That means you submit your best offer by the close date of June 26, 2026, and Ross will assess it. The trucks are located in the Pilbara, so any buyer needs to factor in transport costs from remote WA.
The lot list is limited to two trucks, but these are serious bits of gear. The Caterpillar 789C is a proven workhorse in Australian mining, commonly used for overburden and ore haulage. If the units are in reasonable condition, they could be a solid buy for a contractor or smaller mining operation looking to expand their fleet without paying dealer prices for a refurbished unit.
Buyers should arrange their own inspection before bidding. Given the remote location and the high value of these trucks, Ross likely expects genuine inquiries only. No mention of service history or hours in the listing, so do your due diligence.
-

Komatsu 830E-DC & 730E-DC Mining Trucks Expression of Interest
More detail
These are not your backyard dump trucks. The Komatsu 830E-DC and 730E-DC are purpose-built for large-scale mining operations, with payload capacities that push well over 200 tonnes. The 830E-DC is the bigger of the two, while the 730E-DC is still a serious piece of gear for any mine site.
The auction is a straight expression of interest, meaning you name your price rather than bidding against a clock. That gives buyers time to inspect the units or arrange transport to the Pilbara site. Ross runs regular sales out of Perth, including WA Police forfeited goods and business closures, but this listing targets operators who need genuine mining-grade iron.
Buyers should factor in logistics for moving these trucks from the Pilbara. They are not road-registerable and will require heavy-haul transport. The close date is June 26, 2026, so there is time to do your sums. If you run a mine or need a major fleet addition, this is worth a serious look.
-

Commercial Vehicles, Support Trucks, Earthmoving, Mining Plant, Workshop Equipment & Spares Traditional Kalgoorlie Auction
More detail
Ross’s is clearing the lot at its Kalgoorlie showroom, mixing heavy machinery with everyday workshop gear. The truck lineup includes Isuzu and Hino rigids, a Ford 350 trayback, and a Mitsubishi tipper, while the earthmoving side features a Caterpillar 140G grader and a Komatsu PC200 excavator. Support vehicles include a Toyota LandCruiser ute and a Nissan Patrol wagon.
Workshop buyers will find air compressors, welders, a lathe, and a range of hand tools and spares. There’s also a separate section for collectables and jewellery, making this a true mixed bag. The auction runs online, live, and in-house, so you can bid from anywhere. Check the closing date and get your inspection in early.
-

Mining & Commercial Light Vehicles, Trucks, Plant and Machinery Traditional Karratha Auction
More detail
Ross runs regular auctions from Perth, but this one is staged out of the Karratha Showroom on Bedrock Turn. It mixes WA Police forfeited items with business closure stock and machinery, so the condition and history will vary.
Standout lots include 4×4 utes, tipper trucks, and loader or excavator plant gear. If you work in mining or civil construction, this is a direct line to fleet-ready equipment without the retail price tag. The close date is still to be confirmed, so check the listing for updates.
-

Sale #2044 – Trucks & Transport
More detail
The lot list includes a range of light and heavy vehicles, from utes and vans to rigid trucks and trailers. Sbauction is known for moving stock quickly, so condition varies. Check the photos for obvious wear, especially on older models.
Industrial equipment is also in the mix, with machinery and workshop gear scattered through the listings. This is a standard unreserved sale, meaning everything goes to the highest bidder. If you need a work truck or a site runabout, this is a solid place to look. Close date is 29 July 2026, so register and inspect before then.
-

EOFY Truck, Trailer & Transport Auction – WA
More detail
This end-of-financial-year sale focuses on heavy haulage, with 19 lots of trucks and trailers. The 2019 Mercedes Benz Actros is the headline unit, likely the newest and lowest-km option in the lineup. The 2017 DAF XF105 and the 2013 DAF CF85 both run as 6×4 prime movers, suited to bulk or interstate work. The 2005 Scania R500 is the oldest but still a proven workhorse for the right buyer.
Check the lot descriptions for location details, as items are spread across WA. No close date is set yet, so keep checking the listing for updates. If you need a prime mover for fleet or owner-operator work, this is a solid mix of modern and older gear.

Modern Prime Movers & Trailers Liquidation
More detail
This is a straight-up fleet clearance for anyone needing modern heavy-haul gear. The Scania R620 and Volvo FH16 are both 2023 builds, meaning they still carry that new-truck feel without the dealer price tag. The two Kenworth K200s from 2018 are proven workhorses, and the MaxiTrans trailer rounds out a package that could get a small operator back on the road fast.
The auction runs online only, so you bid from your phone or computer. Check the lot list carefully for exact specs and photos on each unit. With only five lots, expect competition from owner-drivers and fleet buyers alike.
-
SYDNEY Tipper Trucks & Trailers Surplus
More detail
This is a straight-up disposal of tipper gear from a working fleet. The Mack CMHR is a proven workhorse for bulk haulage, while the Scania R560s offer strong Euro 5 performance. On the trailer side, the 2007 Sloanebuilt 4ADT02A quad dog and the 2014 Hercules HEDT99A triple super dog are built for serious payloads, and the 2016 Maxitrans DOG3-A rounds out the set.
Buyers should inspect the condition of the decks, ramps, and coupling gear. All six lots close on 24 June 2026. Lloyds runs this as a multi-lot online auction, so you can bid on individual units or the whole package. Check the listing for inspection times and location details in Sydney.
-

FLEET – Corporate Truck, Bus, Plant & Machinery
More detail
Autorola Australia specialises in high-volume disposals of ex-fleet, statutory, and dealer vehicles. This auction offers a truck or bus from a corporate fleet, likely with service history and known provenance. Buyers should check the listing for exact make, model, and condition reports. The close date is 25 June 2026, so there is time to inspect the details. If you need a commercial vehicle for work or salvage, this is a straightforward buy from a national auction house.
-

NSW, VIC/TAS Trucks & Transport (Online)
More detail
This online sale covers a solid spread of working trucks, from light-duty delivery rigs to heavy haulers. The 2021 Volvo FM 540 is the newest and most powerful unit on offer, ideal for linehaul work. The 1982 Mack RM6866 RS is a classic bit of Aussie trucking history, likely to draw interest from collectors or operators needing a rugged off-road tipper.
The medium-duty lineup includes three Mercedes Benz Atego models (1628, 1629, and a second 1628), plus multiple Hino 500-series trucks and a 2017 Isuzu NNR 45-150. For smaller loads, the 2013 Mitsubishi Fuso Canter 515 is a practical city runabout. Bidders should check the location of each lot before bidding, as trucks are spread across multiple states. Pickles provides online viewing and inspection details on each listing.

2023 Isuzu NQR 87-190 Tabletop Truck Online Auction
More detail
This is a single-lot auction for a 2023 Isuzu NQR 87-190 fitted with a tabletop body. It’s a current-model truck with very low kilometres, so you’re effectively buying a nearly new vehicle at a used price. The NQR platform is a proven performer in Australia, known for its 7.5-tonne GVM and the reliable 190hp diesel engine.
The tabletop body is a practical choice for carrying building materials, pallets, or general freight. With the auction closing in late May 2026, there’s time to inspect and arrange finance. Given the current supply constraints on new trucks, this could be a smart buy for anyone needing a solid work truck without the dealer premium.
Buyers should factor in the usual online auction fees and arrange their own transport. The truck is likely available for inspection prior to the close, so get in touch with liquidassets to confirm viewing details.

EOFY Ex Mining – LVs, Trucks, Trailers, Engines & Auxilary Equipment Sale
More detail
This EOFY clearance sale is pulling together ex-mining assets from the Moranbah yard, offering a mix of heavy vehicles and support equipment. The standout is the MAN TGS 35.480, a serious truck for site work. The Cummins ISX engine is a solid pick for a rebuild or repower.
Beyond the vehicles, there is a useful spread of attachments and infrastructure gear. The MSB hydraulic rock hammer suits an 8-tonne excavator and comes with spare steel. The Sinco gen set is listed as unreserved, which means it will sell to the highest bidder regardless of price. Also in the mix: a 7500-litre steel portable septic tank and a Campac 6.1-metre male toilet block, both suited to mining or construction camps.
Buyers should note that several pallets and crates contain unknown parts, including some labelled as CAT components. The auction closes 25 June 2026, so get in early for inspection if you need site gear or truck parts.

Also on offer are a Weeke CNC machining centre for precision routing and drilling, plus Altendorf and SCM panel saws for sheet stock breakdown.

Isuzu FTS700 4WD Fire Fighting Trucks
More detail
These are serious off-road trucks, not your standard highway rigs. The 2001 FTS750 and the 1992 FTS700 both come with 4WD capability, making them ideal for rural properties, fire brigades, or anyone needing a heavy-duty vehicle that can handle rough terrain. Each truck is built specifically for fire fighting, so expect water tanks, pumps, and hose fittings as standard gear.
Buyers should factor in the age of these units. The 1992 model is over three decades old, so mechanical condition and service history will be key. The 2001 model is newer but still requires a thorough inspection before bidding. Both are located in NSW, but the auctioneer has listed them at various sites, so check the specific pickup location for each lot before you commit. No close date has been set yet, so you have time to do your homework.

Vawdrey, B Double, Drop Deck, Semi Trailers
More detail
MGS is putting up a solid selection of trailers from its Adelaide yard. The headline items are Vawdrey B-double combinations and drop deck units, built for serious freight work. Semi-trailers round out the transport side, so if you need to move heavy loads on a budget, this is worth a look.
The auction house has been running regular commercial, agricultural, mining, and machinery sales here since 1980. That history means they know how to move gear, and the lots are often well-maintained ex-fleet or deceased estate stock. No close date is set yet, so keep an eye on the listing for the deadline. For buyers in SA, this is a chance to pick up transport equipment without travelling far.
