Manheim has stacked the coming week with heavy commercial consignments, and the headline act is a Freightliner Cascadia ex-fleet sale carrying nine 2021 prime movers with 140,000kg GCM and double bunk sleepers from a fully maintained fleet. Bidding on that one runs through BidNow from Thu 17 Sep at 10am AWST to Tue 22 Sep at 2pm AWST, so western-state buyers get a rare shot at near-new Cascadia stock in a single line (Manheim Australia LinkedIn, Sep 11).

Two other truck events land on the same week. A Major Fleet Rotation Auction mixes a 2016 MAN TGX 26.540, a 2013 Kenworth K200 and a 2011 Isuzu FH FVZ curtainside among other prime movers and trailers, opening Fri 18 Sep at 10am AEST and closing Tue 22 Sep at 2pm AEST (Manheim Australia LinkedIn, Sep 11). A separate Refrigerated Transport Fleet Liquidation, run under instructions from a liquidator, lists two 2022 DAF CF480 FTT prime movers, a 2019 Mercedes-Benz Actros, plus 2023 Maxitrans and 2019 Vawdrey trailers, with bidding from Thu 17 Sep at 10am AEST to Wed 23 Sep at 5pm AEST (Manheim Australia LinkedIn, Sep 11). For dealers chasing trailer sets and late-model European iron, that liquidation is the one to diarise.

Light and passenger stock is moving too. The Sydney Government, Fleet, Corporate, Rental and Other auction on 14 Sep carried 107 lots at Moorebank NSW, spanning ex-government, fleet and rental vehicles including a 2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS, a 2023 VW Amarok V6 and a 2021 Toyota HiLux SR5, run as a simulcast event (Auction Finder, Sep 14). A Late Model Fleet Liquidation earlier in the month featured a 2023 Isuzu D-MAX RG1 X-Terrain, a 2020 Toyota RAV4 GX Hybrid and a 2023 Lexus NX350H (Manheim Australia LinkedIn, Sep 5). Manheim has also flagged a major crane liquidation in New South Wales under instructions from SV Partners, pitched as a new heavy equipment event for mid-September (OwnerDriver, Sep 14).

Watch the Cascadia and refrigerated fleet close times for any sign of bidding depth on prime movers, since that will set the tone for truck values heading into October.

Rod’s Tips

Manheim handles the majority of ex-government fleet in Australia. Commonwealth and state government vehicles are typically one-owner, log-book serviced, and come in volume. This produces predictable quality and competitive but fair pricing.

Corporate fleet sales tend to cluster at end of financial year. June and July see elevated supply as companies cycle their fleets. More volume means more choice — and sometimes softer prices on common models.

Rental car fleet disposals at Manheim are worth watching. Major rental companies sell their fleet on a rolling annual cycle. These vehicles are high-km but well-maintained and priced accordingly below market value.

Arrive early for physical inspections. Manheim facilities see high throughput. Getting there early for the inspection period means more time on each vehicle and less waiting for popular lots.

    Seven damaged vehicles are crossing the block in Perth through Manheim’s salvage simulcast. The list includes a 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line, a 2019 Holden Colorado LS dual cab, and a 2018 Toyota Hilux SR cab chassis, plus a 2016 Toyota HiAce van and a 2009 Hyundai i30 wagon.
