Trends & Insights
Manheim Australia opened its new purpose built Brisbane auction site at 50 Trade Coast Drive, Eagle Farm, with vehicle viewing commencing Monday July 6 and in-person auctions resuming Tuesday. The facility supports weekly used car, government, and fleet sales, marking a significant infrastructure upgrade for Queensland buyers and sellers (Manheim Auctions Australia Facebook, Jul 3).
National wholesale supply remains active across multiple segments this week. The ongoing Weekend National Passenger and Commercial Vehicle auctions feature hundreds of lots including used cars, SUVs, and light commercials from Australian sites (manheim.com.au, Jul 6). The Brisbane Government, Fleet, Corporate, Rental & Other auction lists 199 lots, while Melbourne’s equivalent event offers 178 lots, both reflecting continued releases of near new and late model vehicles from corporate and rental fleets (manheim.com.au, Jul 6). The National Transport Corporate Fleet & Finance auction is live with 156 lots, underscoring steady wholesale supply from finance sources (manheim.com.au, Jul 6).
The salvage and damaged vehicle segment continues to offer distinct opportunities. Repairable write off and exempt vehicle auctions, including council abandoned vehicles, are running with hundreds of lots available for bidding (manheim.com.au, Jul 6). This ongoing activity provides a consistent pipeline for wholesale buyers focused on the repair and rebuild market.
Buyers should watch for further fleet and government listings across Brisbane and Melbourne sites in the coming week, as corporate de-fleet volumes show no sign of slowing.

Rod’s Tips
Manheim handles the majority of ex-government fleet in Australia. Commonwealth and state government vehicles are typically one-owner, log-book serviced, and come in volume. This produces predictable quality and competitive but fair pricing.
Corporate fleet sales tend to cluster at end of financial year. June and July see elevated supply as companies cycle their fleets. More volume means more choice — and sometimes softer prices on common models.
Rental car fleet disposals at Manheim are worth watching. Major rental companies sell their fleet on a rolling annual cycle. These vehicles are high-km but well-maintained and priced accordingly below market value.
Arrive early for physical inspections. Manheim facilities see high throughput. Getting there early for the inspection period means more time on each vehicle and less waiting for popular lots.
